The building blocks of a high performing team are just that – building blocks. You cannot build a strong house by installing shingles first, and you cannot develop a strong team by building out of order.
We have seen organizations struggle with synergy. To improve the team’s performance, they first tackle alignment. The classic “staff reorg.”
This is a worthwhile endeavor, in due time. But not now.

Then, and only then, can the team begin to work on alignment – structural team organization, vision, mission, and values. When the team knows who fills what role and where they are headed, they begin to Execute and work toward building capacity for long-term growth.
