In a rare twist, June’s Republican Congressional Primary in Virginia’s 7th District is a de facto election. With two Republican nominees facing off today and no serious Democratic candidate on the horizon, today’s primary functions as this year’s election.
“I’m not a Republican…or a Democrat?”
In Virginia, this does not matter. Primaries are open to anyone for voting purposes. When I walked into the polling place this morning, I showed my ID and went about voting. With low turnout, all of this took me about 5 minutes.
Given the importance of today, study up on the issues and get to the polls before they close at 7 PM!
Richmond Times-Dispatch interviewed Brat and Cantor on the issues, and Cantor and Brat also submitted op-ed pieces.
Go vote!
