“Excitement” only begins to tell the story of seeing the column published Saturday’s newspaper. The response, the comments, and the shares on social media have shown change is possible and Our City has a bright future.

Toni shared a piece of her story and how her life has been impacted by someone investing in her future. This is the hope of good giving.
But the real excitement came from the reminder of Sarah’s (the first) comment: some people are already at work in Our City! Sarah is connected to Embrace Richmond [link], and they are working to make a difference in their neighborhood through Asset Based Community Development (ABCD). Through ABCD, Embrace “[works to transform] neighborhoods by identifying neighborhood leaders and supporting them in their dreams to change their neighborhoods.”
There is plenty more where this came from, and this is only the beginning. I’m excited to watch the journey unfold and see Our City become a stronger place for all of us.
The byline mentioned my participation in the Richmond Christian Leadership Institute’s [link] Class of 2013. The experience in RCLI pushed me to write more about Our City.
