Real Life: The Mite at Work

On Friday, we looked at the story of the Widow’s Mite from the Gospel of Luke. Here’s a modern day example:

checkWe’ll call her Trisha. Trisha visited our Food Pantry a few times. Her health kept her down more than up, but she worked hard to take care of herself, her family members, kids, nieces and nephews and anyone else who needed help.

This dear friend and wonderful servant of God didn’t stop there. She volunteered when she could at the Food Pantry.

But, I think most telling, was the offering she sent to the church.

Out of a little, a lot.

Trisha told us she wanted to give more, but this was all she could do.

The checks came periodically. Each time I heard about another check, I was blown away at Trisha’s generosity.

This is the mite at work. Put the mite with the might of God, and you never know what might happen. You don’t have to be Bill Gates or Warren Buffett to be generous.

Be generous this week, and watch for generous moments around you. You might find them in the least expected places.
