This blog post originally appeared back in 2010 on our youth ministry blog, archived at GaytonChurch.org. At that point in time, we were trying to make a lot of good come from disappointing situations, and it’s a lesson a lot of us would do well to remember. For some reason, I thought it would be a good idea for me to make the lemonade while I was speaking.
So when you make this lemonade, remember that even the most sour of situations can turn into something better.
Last night at LSM engage, we continued our journey toward Easter by talking about how God uses the bad things that happen in life and works good out of them [Romans 8:28]. For last night’s conversation, we especially talked about how God used Christ’s death on the cross for good, to save all the world from sin if we ask for it.
During the message, we made lemonade. Here’s the recipe if you want to try it at home:
engage Lemonade
Ingredients:
- 2 cups of lemon juice (we used 12 lemons)
- 1 cup of warm/hot water
- 2 cups of sugar
- 3 quarts (3/4 gallon) of water
- bowl of ice
- 1 lemon [optional]
Directions:
Roll the lemons before cutting, which will help get more juice out of them. Cut lemons in half and squeeze the juice out.
Pour the sugar into the hot water to dissolve the sugar, then mix with the lemon juice. Add the cold water and ice, and slice the last lemon just for looks [or you can add in the squeezed lemon linds].
Enjoy it!
